A challenge we encounter when working with pie charts, is the difficulty in accurately comparing the sizes of the slices. For example, in the image presented of the pie chart, it would be difficult to sort the slices from largest to smallest based solely on their angles.
In contrast, bar charts allow us to make comparisons in an easier manner by visually assessing the length of the bars. When the bars are aligned on one side, such as the bottom in this case, the differences are immediately apparent. Bar charts can be displayed either horizontally or vertically. In this example, we can observe that the blue bar represents the largest slice.
